Change Folder Icons History:

04/10/06 New version - 7.4 is released! Now with included Free Icon Libraries

What's new:
- full support of folder multiselection:
now you can add several folders to change its icons from Windows Explorer exactly;
- new-made "Select Folder" window (scalable, with opportunity to multiselect folders and create/delete empty folder);
- when you drag-and-drop objects to "Icon Preview" field or add via shell all zip-folders and files are removed;
- navigation of selected folders is improved (round paging, deletion from list);
- if you want to change icon of several selected folders you are asked either to change icon of a current or all selected folders;
- Online Help is improved!

- now you can change several folder icons at a time;
- opportunity to set path for icons stored in independent & non-portable mode;
- drag & drop full support (when you drag several folders to the fields "Icon Preview" and "Select Icon");

Now you can:

  • change folder icons in such a way that while copying to another computer, CD or any removable drive the bright icons are kept (even if the program is not installed);
  • view changed icons via Network and set colourful icons for network folders;
  • use the advanced management of changed icons;
  • search icons on Network drives.

Now you can:

  • use Program Assistant,
  • add item for folder/drive to explorer context menu,
  • store Advanced search options at next program start,
  • set number of the drop-down strings - depth of the input history [2..20],
  • make and save your own libraries containing all the found and favourite icons;
  • save found necessary and favourite icon item as a single file in *.ico or *.bmp format.

6.0 (09.09.2003):

  • ADVANCED SEARCH OPTIONS are made; now you can set options "Number of colors" and "Size in pixels" before search and only necessary icons will be find;
  • you can browse all icon variations of one found icon, if it consists of several icons various in size/colors (16x16x256 + 32x32xHiColor + 64x64xTrueColor for example);
  • context help;
  • some interface improvements are made;
  • bugs are fixed.

  • now icons are kept in a special CFI folder, so they are independent from source files;
  • you can find all folder icons changed by another program or manually and convert them to the CFI database (for example, you can use this function in Windows'XP, where there is built-in function to Change Folder Icons);
  • history of changed icons is added;
  • new "Assistent" will help you to work with program first times.

4.1 beta 4 (27.04.2002):

  • now function "Export" work correctly! - before this version all icons was saved as 16-color and 32x32 size.

  • export array of icons bug fixed (one icon was copied);
  • now exported files named icon_xxxx.ico, where xxxx - icon number in list.
  • numbers of saved icons starts since 0001, file icon_0000.ico - icon of current folder;
  • confirmation on "Export all icons";
  • pause mode now disabled after press "Stop" button (during "search" or "export all icons" functions);
  • other minor bugs fixed.

  • max number of icons in one search cyrcle - 5000, after that you can start new search;

  • now work in Win'98 too! - we use unique technique (not hide folder and make shortcuts to it!), so you can view your folders in any file browsers and any other programs;
  • now you can change icons for several folders in one run, by one search (it is very conveniently if you want change bif amount of icons);
  • absolutely new interface and functionality;
  • function "search icons" improved;
  • now program called "Change Folder IconS" .
